The Core 1 amplifier, a product of three years intensive development, blends cutting edge loudspeaker, analog and digital circuit technology and industrial design to redefine the way that acoustic guitar and vocals should be amplified.
At the heart of the amplifier is a patented new type of loudspeaker that has its world debut in the Core 1. It creates and radiates sound in a fundamentally different and better way. This groundbreaking patented innovation is the brainchild of the eminent speaker designer Dr. Graham Bank and was specifically adapted for acoustic guitar in collaboration with our engineers.
Exclusive to LR Baggs this 192mm diameter flat honeycomb diaphragm speaker employs a single 2” voice coil to generate a 140 degree wide full range conical sound field with a clean SPL of 108 dB. As all frequencies are generated by the one flat diaphragm there are no crossovers or time distortions to smear and muddy the sound. Harmonics align naturally with fundamentals so clarity and detail are breathtaking but without the normal harshness or annoying directionality of a multi driver system.
More like a window than a speaker the benefit of the new technology is in the clarity and its ultra wide sound field. The Core 1 seamlessly fills every corner of the room and effortlessly envelops the listener with a warm, inviting crystal clear sound as it faithfully traces every nuance of your guitar. Best of all, the ultra wide dispersion solves one of the biggest problems of amplified acoustic guitars as it allows the musician, band and the audience to hear the same thing.
Building on the famed Para DI the Radius One preamp features a whole new level of circuit sophistication. Forgoing any OP Amps it employs 100% discrete circuitry in an innovative configuration resulting in fidelity and performance that places it with the world’s finest mic preamps. We have also eschewed the generic digital effects chip common to most acoustic amps and created a specially modified spring reverb and driver circuit for the sweetest sounding reverb you’ve ever heard.
The power amplifier is a European state-of-the-art 200 Watt Digital hi-fi amplifier that is warm, transparent, quiet and has plenty power to trace the demanding dynamics of the acoustic guitar.
