Michaela Davies

Michaela Davies is an Australian musician and sound artist who has been an active member of Sydney’s music community for several decades. She has performed at venues and festivals worldwide, including MonaFoma Festival, Woodford Folk Festival, Currents Festival Santa Fe, London V&A, MCA Sydney, Sydney Opera House, Chao Art Centre Beijing, and Sonica Festival where she was artist in residence.

Michaela’s bass playing can be heard on many recordings including the award winning Jirga soundtrack. She has collaborated on projects with Jim Sclavunous (Bad Seeds), multi-instrumentalist Sxip Shirey (Limbo), composer and guitarist Kyle Sanna, pianist Tristan Mckay, and Simon Day (Ratcat), among others.

Michaela is an Australian Music Centre Associate Artist. She has received a Creative Australia Fellowship from the Australia Council for the Arts, and her work has been awarded an Honorary Mention in Prix Ars Electronica (Austria) for Digital Musics & Sound Art.
